This is one of my favorite places to visit all of England. It is the re-constructed Anglo-Saxon village of West Stow. Evidence for a village in the area where the park is now was found some time ago and the village dates from 420 AD-650 AD (one of my most favorite times in British history). The houses on the site have been reconstructed according to the archaeological evidence on the site.
I'm really pleased with how this picture came out. The house closest to the foreground is the hall. In the hall, often refered to in Beowulf as the mead hall, the members of the village would meet eat together and discuss things. West Stow's hall also has a lovely animal swirling design graphic on it. I think you can just see it in this picture. The house in the middle of the picture is the called the Living house inside is a bed and furniture, like that which Anglo-Saxon might have used ! The farthest building from the foreground (the yellow one) is the workshop. It's walls are wattle and daub. When the re-enactors are there you can usually find the man who makes the chain mail in this place.
This is a stock picture now, so if you would like to use it for photomanipulation or a reference, please feel free to do so . I only ask that you provide me with a link to the picture by note or comment, so I can see your lovely work. I hope these can be helpful!

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
